I recommend ECC memory only for systems with large amounts of memory and which
will run continuously for long periods of time.  But for those, I highly
recommend it.  

We're talking about a very low risk of a memory error.  A system with 128MB of
memory might get a single bit memory error if run continuously for a year or
two, if that. 

For most systems designed for casual use, the money is better spent getting
more memory, a better monitor, etc.
