There are applications out there that will allow a Linux system to act
as a Novell fileserver directly, without having to make the jump to
Samba.  Getting them working is something I've never attempted, though.
I assume they come with Novell file transfer clients you could use to
copy the files from the existing Novell server over the network to the
new machine before you point users at the new one.  

I assume that you're not converting the user desktop machines to linux,
otherwise same comments as W.A. -- use NFS or something that's
Unix-native.

File permissions are generally "interesting" to get working on things
like Samba and whatever the Novell replacement is called.  I'm having a
slow brain day...

Faxing could be interesting to get working -- I've not seen many clean
fax installations that interoperated between OS's very well.  You might
be in for a surprise that the existing hardware may not work either,
depending on what you're using.

Winproxy could be replaced in two blinks of one eye, however.  :)
