[lug] Scanners?

I used to work at the scanner software division of HP, one of my best
buddies is the *inventor* of TWAIN. What a stud.

I can ask him what he thinks, but I know that Sean has done quite a lot of
scanner work on Linux and it's worth getting his opinions. I can tell you,
what you will run into is that the software written by the scanner vendor
will in general extract the most from the scanner's optics than third party
stuff. In general. This is because they know where to warp the color map,
etc. And these people are all writing for Windows. Mac is a distant
second. "What's Linux?" they all say :)

SCSI is the only way to go unless you enjoy pain. USB is a nice way to
connect but I have yet to connect a USB port on Linux.
