Subject: Karen Brown's Testimony on E-Commerce

NIST Deputy Director Karen Brown will be testifying on June 22 at
10:30 a.m. before the House Science Subcommittee on Technology
(Morella, R-MD, Chairwoman) on E-Commerce: A Review of Standards and
Technology to Support Interoperability.  This hearing will discuss
the current state of e-commerce and will examine how standards
facilitate the seamless transfer of business information during e-
commerce transactions.  The hearing is scheduled to be webcasted and
will be available at the following website
(http://www.house.gov/science/welcome.htm) 15 minutes prior to the
start of the hearing (approximately 10:15 a.m.).

Other witnesses expected to testify include: Keith Krach, Chief
Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board, Ariba, Inc.; Ron Zoppo,
Director of Electronic Commerce, CompTIA; and Ken Baker, President,
ERIM.
