Subject: GIMP: is CMYK imprtant for monochrome work

Just starting to play with GIMP (under Linux) and the author of one of the manuals states that GIMP doesn't do CMYK (as does Photoshop), only RGB.

I am interested in enlarging some of my pyro negatives from 6x6 cm negatives to 5x4 or 8x10 for printing with Ziatype.

Is there a issue with GIMP not using CMYK for this purpose? I searched the archives, but couldn't satisfy my queries.

Comments?

Thanks

Peter.
