/etc/services has a mapping of service names to port numbers.  This has
nothing to do with binaries, and most of them are (hopefully) not actually
running on your machine.

inetd.conf has a list of programs that are spawned from inetd.  For example,
in my example the smtp server wouldn't be listed there because it's a
stand-alone daemon and is not run by inetd.
