I've had luck with the LinkSys "Network Anywhere" PCI cards. The tulip
driver
that came with the earlier cards didn't work with 2.2.14-5 kernel, but
recompiling
Becker's latest tulip driver got things working. 

I've also used these cards on Win98, WinNT, etc without troubles.

CompUSA has these for $20. I bought several at Office Depot when they were
on sale for $10.
