Presentation: Internet2: Enabling Collaboration for Education

Speaker: Jane Ryland (jryland at educause.edu)

Abstract:

Internet2 is an initiative led by over 180 universities working in
partnership with industry and government to develop and deploy advanced
network applications and technologies for research and education,
accelerating the creation of tomorrow's Internet. This presentation will
review what's been accomplished so far in this initiative. With the
establishment of two high speed Internet2 backbones, the focus on the
project has shifted to advanced networking applications and the underlying
network engineering issues that support these applications; these next
challenges will be discussed as well.
