[lug] LILO becomes LI...

Just a note -- some of the more recent versions of LILO now have
an ability to locate the image beyond the first 1024 blocks of your
hard drive -- the version that comes with Redhat 7 for instance
allows you to add an option to /etc/lilo.conf, "lba32", alone on
a single line (that is do not use the append= construct). This doesn't
get around other BIOS limitations -- we had some problems locating Linux
beyond 8GB on some older systems for instance, but it does fix the 1024
problem. As a result, we haven't thrown away our copies of Partition
Magic :-)

An RPM for the more recent LILO is located at:

ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/rawhide/1.0/i386/RedHat/RPMS/lilo-21.4.4-11.i386.rpm

Hope that helps, --Tim Fredrick (fredrick at acd.ucar.edu)
