As just another voice I can tell you that tomcat was quite difficult to
set up with ApacheSSL.  I ended up installing everything from source.  But
once things were up and running and our programmers had the deployment
figured out things ran very well.  Tomcat hasn't given us any trouble
since we installed it about 5 months ago.  

So my grades are: 
- Reliability - great
- Performance (speed) - good
- Installation - poor

You may also want to look at some application server packages that include
java support.
