All .gnome files that end with those random letters really are somewhat
random. They are like session cookies to identify temp files that belong
to a particular session, and are created either at the start of the
gnome session, or at the start of an application. They should be erased
either at the end of the application, the end of the session, or at
startup to the next session. All of them can be used as a sample of
configuration in some other file (which file is your guess), but are not
themselves intended to be edited.
