To be fair' a similar thing once happened in the (unstable) Debian
dist. Apt happily kicked out libc and then forked of bash :-))))
Boy, that made many mad testers ...
OTOH, i've upgraded libc on many remote systems using apt-get
without a single problem so far (knock on wood).
