[lug] left-shift as <ctrl>?

I use xmodmap:

$ cat .Xmodmap
remove Lock = Caps_Lock
keycode 37 = Caps_Lock
keysym Caps_Lock = Control_L
add Lock = Caps_Lock
add Control = Control_L
$
