Unfortunately, I don't have any suggestions for recovering your setup.
There is something in Partition Magic that does not like Linux
partitions: I've had this error #108 (and also 111) before and lost a
2 GB Win98 drive when it was converted to a swap file. The tech
support people at PM could not explain it not solve it.

I've tried setting up my partitions with PM (you'll need version 4 or
5 to do this) and then installing Linux, but this doesn't seem to
help. I've finally gone to keeping the two OS's on separate drives,
with Windows on the first drive and using Boot Magic to select which
OS to boot.

This would be my suggestion to you if you have the space. Use PM to
resize the C: drive on the first HD, then add a D: drive on it and
restore your data. Then use the second drive in its entirety for
Linux.

The two OS's just don't seem to mix on the same drive.
