Don't be too happy - looks like it's going to be a lame thing where you
have to "opt-out" i. e. they have a right to send you spam when you are
given the option to select to not receiving additional email.

Doing it that way identifies you that the email address works and then it's
sellable and another "entity" can again send you another piece of junk
where you again have the possibility to "opt out".

Same with the Colorado lame junk fax law. They can send you junk as long as
you get a phone number to call, where you can "opt-out".

Opting out is not an option for me. There is a company which was sending me
UCE with the option to "opt out". The web site they pointed to had no place
to do the opting-out thing. I emailed them about it - no answer, they kept
sending.. I have no desire to play this kind of game.

The only sensible option (in my opinion) is to have "opt-in" but if the
gutless corrupt politician gang is getting it together is questionable.
Maybe the spam industry is weak in lobbying and can't bribe enough, then
there is hope.

Until then, for me the solution is to have one-time identifyable email
addresses for every entity I exchange email and if it creates spam, I
either change it or junk it.

If you don't have your own mail server, spammotel.com or sneakemail does
the trick.
