[lug] command line editing in vi

I have not been happy with the vim installation that shipped with RH7.x, and
replaced it with vim-5.7 (www.vim.org).  After I did that, it worked exactly
as I expected, including proper syntax highlighting.  I didn't feel the
need to bother with why it was broken.  The hammer approach sufficed :)
