I assume you mean something like
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0:1.  I am
trying to use eth0. The output from my previous post
is the result of running
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup ifcfg-eth0:1.  I
copied this file from ifcfg-eth0, and changed nothing
but the "DEVICE" parameter.

DEVICE="eth0:1"
BOOTPROTO="none"
BROADCAST=10.0.5.255
IPADDR="10.0.5.20"
NETMASK="255.0.0.0"
NETWORK=10.0.5.0
ONBOOT="yes"
IPXNETNUM_802_2=""
IPXPRIMARY_802_2="no"
IPXACTIVE_802_2="no"
IPXNETNUM_802_3=""
IPXPRIMARY_802_3="no"
IPXACTIVE_802_3="no"
IPXNETNUM_ETHERII=""
IPXPRIMARY_ETHERII="no"
IPXACTIVE_ETHERII="no"
IPXNETNUM_SNAP=""
IPXPRIMARY_SNAP="no"
IPXACTIVE_SNAP="no"
