[lug] sendmail[20125]: alias database /etc/aliases.db out of date

sendmail will complain if it finds an error in the aliases file. Sendmail
looks at the timestamp of the aliases file, and the timestamp of the
aliases.db file to determine if the file is out of date. If there is a
syntax error in the file, the new aliases.db will not be created,
therefore it is out of date. Look at the timestamps of the two files
(aliases and aliases.db) and see if there is something wrong.
