[lug] large boot image required

I'm trying to work with creation of my own boot disks, and I find that
it is not possible to do even with separate boot and root disk, because
glibc plus my required xfs modules exceed the size of a floppy. By the
time I add some other files needed for boot, it still exceeds 2.3 MB. So
I am looking at the possibility of a bootable cd rom, but do not have a
burner on my machine. So I am thinking of doing all I can to create an
image which is suitable for a bootable (rhyme not intended) cd, and
taking my machine to another location with a network card and a cd
burner. Right now I have the "yard" scripts for creating boot and root
images, which creates the image on loopback. I'm wondering how feasible
it would be to create a full image of everything I want on a single
loopback system, then somehow burn it from a second machine. Any
opinions on how easy or ridiculous this would be?
