Nope. There is no official device major file for recreational devices. I
searched through all of the kernel documentation in hopes there would
be. Further investigation indicates that Linus is calling a moratorium
on adding more to the hundreds of device special file listings, while
working on the newer devfs, the modular version of device special files.
However, if you were to provide kernel developers with several sample
recreation devices to work with, a future release would probably support
this. Supporting such devices seems like a good idea, it would certainly
break Microsoft's hold on the desktop leader...imagine the forms of
recreation that would be possible on the desktop.
