You would be paying MPAA a fee, but one option for DVD playback is to
get the Netstream card from Sigma Designs.  It's got TV and audio
out that can be plugged into your TV.  It's about $250 but cheaper
than a stand-alone dvd player.  It will also play files off disk.
Drivers are available from Sigma designs and don't lock-up too often.
