If you don't mind the noise and using a bit of paper, just get hold of
a cheap dot matrix printer and send log messages to /dev/lp0.  Given a
long enough parallel (or USB, or plain-old-serial) cable you could put
the beast in another room, behind a locked door, for additional
comfort and physical security.
