[lug] That ol' 3500

Hi,

Does anyone remember what the old 3500 was called at Intel ? I've been
looking and can't find the S450NX mobo listed anywhere on Intel's site. I
know it was an OEM item, but there should still be something there, I'd think.

I've been hired as a consultant for a former VA customer who want's to
upgrade his system, something VA often refused to do for him, and need some
reliable info on what options are really open to him and what issues are
really involved. Any ex VA engineers remember anything about this beast ?

I haven't looked at this thing yet, (appt. tomorrow pm) but I'm thinking it
doesn't have rails for the built in backplane (it has 3 nstores but no drives
in the 3500). Without looking at it I don't remember if it needs them. I'm
pretty sure trying to get any from VA is a loosing battle (couldn't do this
kind of stuff when I worked there, why should it change now ?) and am
wondering if Intel would have such things. I'm also wondering, if I need to
call VA, if anyone decent is left at VA tech support? is Patrick still around
? I know Dale's gone. I'm not sure about Josh...

Anyone remember ?
