[lug] weird networking on a multi-homed host

ping still tries to do a reverse IP lookup. I have seen exactly this issue,
right down to the doubling of the intervals.

Seems odd that this would be the problem since I was using ip addresses in
both directions.

I gave up trying to do the net install and put a cdrom drive in the box.
