[lug] So you want to learn some Linux you say...

I lauged out loud.

This reminds me of something that happened on Friday.
I am involved in going through the DOD IT Security Certification Process
for a linux box that we are using to deploy a web application. You have to
run a daemon on your box and also have your box port scanned by a DOD
approved tool. After the network scan, the guy was impressed that Linux
stood up to the scan which included some DoS attacks. Then he commented
that someone warned him to watch out for Unix guys and how they were clever
and tricky at times. Made me laugh to think how "Unix/Linux" guys are
viewed outside the community. You are probably asking what the relevance
is to the funny remarks made to the marketing email is.

I just wondered why it is that such a large part of the Linux/Unix world is
a bit cynical, a bit know-it-all, full of what would appear to be useless
trivia, "clever/sneaky/tricky", disdainful/playful with overt marketing,
etc.
