[lug] sendmail not accepting

Can you ping the IP address of space?
You should verify that the IP address is the IP address of the machine 
that you are on.  Use ifconfig eth0 (assuming only one ethernet card)
If you are using ipchains, ipchains -L will list them all.  I'm not sure 
about iptables though.
