It IS a show stopper. For a week after I first installed my new RH 7.1,
it claimed to be firewalled. It was not. ipchains script claimed nicely
it wall all up and fine, but it wasn't. It's like having a pilot light
on a fire alarm, and it is nothing more than green glow-in-the-dark
paint. Anyone with valuable data or no backups that has it all destroyed
by a script kiddie will quickly tell you something to the effect of
"gee, the indicator said it was on". It's as serious as a fatal flaw in
the filesystem that can reach out at any moment and do an accident fdisk
of the entire system.
