[lug] LILO timeout & single user HELP!!

Hi all,
I've got a system that the shadow file has been removed, the lilo timeout
is 0, and it won't (for whatever reason) boot from the rescue disk.

Does anybody know how to interrupt lilo when the timeout is 0? I need to
get into this system. Or is there a place where I can make a generic boot
disk that can mount an ext2fs disk? The disk that I made from the system
isn't working.
