If you are interested in blocking SPAM you should take a look at:

http://www.spambouncer.org/

It is a very complete set of procmail scripts that filter the messages based
on pattern matching. It takes about an hour to get set up.

I have been getting more and more spam lately. As I look at the
headers, most spam appears to have been relayed by as many as 3-4
servers. For instance,

Received: from chi6-1.relay.mail.uu.net (chi6-1.relay.mail.uu.net
[199.171.54.98]) by vecna.com (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id LAA26800 for
<webmaster at vecna.com>; Fri, 18 Jan 2002 11:12:38 -0500
From: newyork1 at uole.com
Received: from proxychaco.chaco.com by chi6sosrv11.alter.net with ESMTP
(peer crosschecked as: chaco.com.bo [63.96.136.71]) id QQlyiy09457; Fri,
18 Jan 2002 16:10:54 GMT
Received: from mail.uole.com
(0-1pool106-132.nas9.miami1.fl.us.da.qwest.net [65.139.106.132]) by
proxychaco.chaco.com with SMTP (Microsoft Exchange Internet Mail Service
Version 5.5.2653.13) id CSMFM8WX; Fri, 18 Jan 2002 10:03:29 -0600

so it starts at qwest.net in florida goes to proxychaco.chaco.com to
alter.net/uu.net to me.

If I had blocked the original qwest.net address address would the email
have bounced? Or if I had only blocked the chaco.com domain would the
email have bounced?

Mostly a curiousity.

Hugh
