Also check out section 3.3.6 in Help-->Extended Features in LyX.  It talks
about bitmapped versus outline fonts there.  The www.lyx.org website has
some tips at http://www.lyx.org/help/index.php3 and some other online help
at http://www.sad.it/~jug/lyx/lyxdoc/.
