The most troublesome switch I've ever had to deal with was a Bay Netowrks
box...  It wouldn't properly deal with ARPs from this set of Linux boxes we
had, and if you had aliased interfaces it was a craps shoot which ones
IPs would work...  Bay support was never able to fix it.  We had to do
static mappings for any IPs we wanted on machines, and track down a network
guy when a box failed and we had to move hardware around...

Finally we just put a cheapo 8-port Linksys switch in place of it and life
was good...
