[lug] Synchronous reads on raid-1?

Howdy all --

Can't seem to turn anything up on the archives or google for this one...

Does anyone know... does the kernel handle asynchronous reads on disks in a
mirror in kernel series 2.4 by default? I know that with kernel 2.2 and
raid .90 support for it, there was a patch available on linuxraid.org (which
I can't seem to get to right now) to enable this.

(In case I'm using asynchronous incorrectly, what I'm looking for is the
ability to split read requests and fulfill them in parallel on different
disks in a mirror such as most hardware raid controllers do it... i.e. read
request 1 done on disk 1 and read request 2 done on disk 2, etc. in
parallel.)

I'm curious if this functionality has found it's way in to the 2.4 series at
any point?

Jim
