hello,

I have found that the best tool to setup a modem with is KDE's
KPPP just call it from the command line and click

setup>device> then choose your modem ,default is /dev/modem this might work
if not try diffrent devices, my external usally shows up as
/dev/ttys0 then after you pick a new divice click tab...
modem>query_modem this will tell you if you have the right device.

then just set up your isp info and connect. If you like the command line
you can issue wvdialconf and it will find your modem and set up a
conf file in /etc/wvdial.conf Edit this file adding your isp info
then connect!

Thanks,
jd
