Don't know any "fixes", but hack would be that in another terminal, as
the same user or as root, type "sleep 10;killall -9 TheAppBinaryName".
If it works, kill the terminal before it reaches the 10 second countdown
(it'll kill it in 10 seconds unless you override it, or hit control-c).
