I used to hang out on the emu10k1 devel list when the driver was
originally being created. I did not personally use the s/pdif, but from
what went on with the list, I can say with high confidence that the
feature works on non-custom versions of emu10k1. Perhaps it was Dell or
Gateway, one of those two using a sblive customized the hardware, and
broke it for use in many ways...those cards did not work at the time
with s/pdif, but it may have been fixed by now. As far as s/pdif goes,
it should work, but the sblive is s/pdif input only, not output
(Hammerfall on the other hand can do a *lot*, it is a pro audio
card...but check out what works before buying).
