7.0 shipped with the gcc that everyone complained about, yet it "worked"
just fine for us when we were building packages for KRUD (C and C++).
Particularly the errata compilers seemed to work great.

IIRC, Tkil wrote something here about why the "problems" weren't as bad
as people were making them out to be.  Unfortunately, C++ is *STILL*
kind of a moving target.
