[lug] Cannot connect to the Internet with a web browser whentrying to use an

well, /etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default is there for my rh8.0 box
and I tourned off any firewalls during install cause my network already has 
one.
I have hosts resolve.conf and ifcfg-eth0...perms are world readable though.
does this serve some purpose....to move the files around?
