            TGi gets closer to new 802.11 Security Draft (Sept 21)
            802.11i continued comment resolution of Letter Ballot 35 at the
September Meeting. Four technical issues still need to be addressed out of
729 issues. Expectations are that TGi will go to letter ballot this

            NIST releases draft on Wireless Network Security (July 24)
            NIST releases special publication on Wireless Network Security
that examines the benefits and security risks of 802.11 (WLAN), Bluetooth Ad
Hoc Networks, and Handheld Devices Computer Security Division, NIST


            IEEE TGi Letter Ballot 35 Voting Results (May 13)
            IEEE WG meeting Sydney AU. Voting results for LB 35, the
proposed new security standard for 802.11 networks. Preliminary results: 257
votes received, 90 yes, 112 no, 55 abstain, over 1200 comments received. TGi
continues to address LB comments & LB 35 resolution. IEEE 802.11 Task Group

128-bit key after capturing 3600 interesting packets. The calculation itself

            Researchers Crack New Wireless Security Spec (Feb 2) -- "The
current combination of IEEE 802.1X and 802.11 standards do not provide a
sufficient level of security, nor will it ever without significant changes."
