[lug] kde problems with krud/redhat 8.0

RH 8.0 uses the new "BlueCurve" desktop(s) which are extremely similar
between GNOME and KDE, and somewhat controversial.  Whether it's
"breakage" or "customization" is up for debate... (GRIN)...

As far as the PPP stuff, any errors in the log files?  Those would be
the place to start looking...?
