Ok, I have posted a higher resolution version of this poster, with
spelling corrections also. I enlarged (scaled) the penguin, and tried to
clean up the "jaggies" along the edge with a 1-pixel pencil (under high
zoom) and color set to black with transparency ranging between 10% and
50%. One pixel at a time, this is is really slow on an image of any
size, so I won't claim the cleanup was perfect, only that it is better
than it was. Anyone printing at a 1200x1200 resolution will be able to
pick up on the "jaggies", but I'd be at it for many days to be able to
smooth it out at a resolution like that (and I have no way to test it,
my printer is an absolute piece of junk that never worked right). The
antialiasing of text within gimp is superior to anything I could do
without scaling the text about 50 times higher (and adding a few
gigabytes of ram to the machine), so I can't do much about that. I
noticed when printing to postscript file a slight increase in "jaggies"
was visible, though not much. I also produced pdf via ps2pdf13, it
appears to work fairly well.

I have posted these temporarily on my web site, but will remove them in
about two days. I'm giving the URL's in a format that spam bots and
harvesting won't pick up on:
h t t pCOLONslashSLASH
www DOT battlefieldlinux DOT c0m
SLASH download SLASH

Specific files in the download area are:
   installfest-hi-res.pdf
   installfest-hi-res.png
   installfest-hi-res.xcf

I'm especially interested in finding out if this works on high
resolution printers...at least better than before. If so, Chris can put
this on the BLUG web page and I'll remove it from my personal site.
