I have finally tracked down the problem of non-linear time loss.  In the
BIOS, the ACPI function has a Throttle Duty Cycle that was causing the
problems.  Disabling this, allows the clock to maintain time
correctly... that is unless I want to fidget with the GNU/Linux ACPI
implementation.
