Terry,

I think that you're following the wrong instructions at SMC website.
The card they refer to here (SMC2632W) is a Prism based one and it
make total sense to load the "wvlan_cs" module for it. In your case
(SMC2635W), SMC used the Admtek ADM8211 chipset and there is very
little chance you'll get the Prism driver working on that one.

At least, they were nice enough to give you a clue by changing the
model number ... We've seen situations before where the manufacturer
didn't change it while swapping chipsets.

The SMC2635W is fairly new and I doubt you'll find polished support
for it in any distro yet. You'll have to 1) keep asking SMC for Linux
support and/or 2) stay tuned and do some research for a while before
it catches steam in the community (it's a nice and cheap 802.11b card
so that will hopefully come). You can start there
http://www.admtek.com.tw/download/ADM8211.htm, but won't find
anything neatly setup for your card anyway.

Good luck,
