[lug] gnome background via command line

I have mandrake 9.1 and since I don't use nautilis (but still gnome) my
background doesn't get loaded on X startup. If I run
gnome-background-properties it shows my settings correctly and if I change
something and then change it back and close, I have my background. Is
there a way to automate this? Either run a command line that will tell
gnome to read my background settings, or just change them and then change
'em back?

Thanks,

Ben
