[lug] Colocation recommendations: strike American ISP

Sounds to me like you ought to get a lawyer, and threaten them with a
court order if they don't allow you to take your hardware out of there.
This is a no brainer. Get your box, and go down the street to someone
else.

I sympathize with the dialup users - an overzealous weedwacker proved a
few
weeks ago that idiots don't just drive backhoes.

But there's are several key difference between dialup and colocated
customers.

Without connectivity, dialup customers can't do anything. They can take

their business elsewhere, and there's nothing American ISP can do to
prevent
it.

But colocated customers can still do a lot of things with their hardware

even when they don't have connectivity - they can check for damage,
perform
maintenance, etc.
They can take their machines elsewhere, on either an emergency or
permanent
basis. They could even decide to sell their equipment to somebody else.

Hell, they could honor prior commitments to sell their equipment to
somebody
else.

We can't do that now.
