[lug] [Arguably OT] Resources Required for MP3/OGG Playback

Definitely OT... sorry all... :-)

Just thought it'd be a fun trip down ye olde memory lane.

(Would that be core memory? Heh... I had a piece of that stuff lying around
somewhere... someone must have thrown it out... some of us -- he mumbles
with an evil eye toward he bedroom where spouse is sleeping -- just aren't
good little packrats! Can't say I ever used a machine that used that stuff,
but it was a cool visual/hands-on way to visualize the electronics evolution
for how individual bits had to get their charge/refresh cycles to keep the
bits from twiddling! GRIN... all those coils around donut shaped ferrous
cores... sigh... coooool.)

Any one of the co-processors "counts" I'd say. :-)

Are you talking the real deal 8087?

I have done a 8087, 80287, 80387 (it was a IIT brand, a clone of a 387)

Carl.

I'd stick with the 486 DX2/66 or higher. Although a 386 with a math
co-processor might work. :-)

(That'll scare someone outta their shorts... who here remembers adding a
math co-processor to your machine? Hands? LOL...)
