[lug] dvd playback with mplayer

i'm trying to play dvd's with mplayer and am having problems.
the screen is split into four distinct sections. one of which is a
magenta band in the middle.

i'm trying this on a 500MHz AMD K6.  i know this is very slow
for what i want to do.  even mplayer told me the cpu was too slow. :)

what i was wondering, though, is whether this effect is sympotmatic
of too slow a cpu or could i have other problems.

i am planning on upgrading to a faster machine, but would like to
work out any bugs in the meantime.

i'm using RH9 and mplayer 1.0pre2.
