[lug] Suse yast2 doesn't start

Hi,
Pardon me if this is a naive question ... I'm new to Suse.
I'm running Suse 9 professional on a Pentium.
When I login as root yast works fine.
But when I login as me and try ...
	xhost +
	GreenButton / system / yast
	Get password popup for /sbin/yast2; enter password

Nothing happens.  Yast2 never starts.  Meanwhile /var/log/messages shows:

Dec 30 09:49:02 helix su: (to root) sullivan on /dev/pts/4
Dec 30 09:49:02 helix su: pam_unix2: session started for user root, service su
Dec 30 09:49:02 helix su: pam_unix2: session finished for user root, service su
Dec 30 09:49:02 helix su: (to root) sullivan on /dev/pts/4
Dec 30 09:49:02 helix su: pam_unix2: session started for user root, service su
Dec 30 09:49:03 helix su: pam_unix2: session finished for user root, service su

How can I get yast running this way?
