[lug] Changing LaTeX labeling of Figures and Tables

I haven't tested this, but I found:

  http://www.fysik.dtu.dk/~schiotz/comp/latextips/#figlabel

which lets you change "Figure" to "Fig."
and a bug report from 1997 complaining about the :

  http://www.latex-project.org/cgi-bin/ltxbugs2html?pr=latex/2504&

I have no idea if it's been fixed.
