This is why I suggest something like a RAID 1 mirror between a ram 
partition and a CD-R or CD-RW. If power fails, the CD is the backup; if 
someone wants to change the CD, and keep it for rebuilding the logs on 
another machine or simply browsing it, this is also possible. Aside from 
power failure (I use an UPS), a ram partition plus a CD failing 
simultaneously is fairly low probability. Hot swap of the log medium.
