[lug] Dvorak Keyboard settings

OK, thanks to all for your help.

Here's what I've learned:

1. The Keyboard setting under System Settings will set the keyboard
layout for the entire system. Specifically, it will change the layout
for users logging in. However, this change does not take place
until one actually reboots the machine. Minor details, I just didn't
expect that behavior from Linux, but then I don't have a strong
understanding, thereof. Now my wife & son can log on without having to
use arcane character strings for user & password from the GRUB screen.

2. In the Control Center application (KDE?), one can set the keyboard
layout under the Regional & Accessibility tab. This works for the
individual user.

I have now accomplished my goal of being able to use Dvorak as much as
possible under linux, i.e. root & me, whilst my other users can use the
standard inefficient layout in common use for the last 1.25 centuries.

Thanks to all who responded with scripts! I researched those closely,
but was too lazy & fearful to build a Xmodmap for the entire keyboard.
I shall implement the keymap commands for my windows & menu keys in the
near future.

I am writing about lessons learned, btw, to ask another question. Stay
tooned ...
